The erotic thriller series Claroscuro (10×45’), a co-production between Arttess Productions (Miami) owned by Eduardo and Tess Román, 3C Films (Argentina) owned by Juan Crespo, and Olympusat US, start shootings in Miami in September with a Latino cast.
“The co-production operation was consolidated in NATPE and last week and all the terms and contracts have already been agreed. Shortly, pre-production will start, and in September, shootings. For me, the chance to have a series that is already placed, albeit not yet ready, has been a blessing. We had already done a 45-minute pilot in 2018 to present at festivals,” explained Eduardo Román, director and writer of the original series.
The series touches the culture of Shibari bondage, centered on a famous sexologist who writes books influenced by her patients´ stories. “It has a connotation that is appropriate for these times. We touched sexual diversity, bullying, and how we relate through social network apps and meetings,” explains Román.
With Olympusat, Yeshuah Castillo was who handled the negotiation.
The actors that have already been confirmed include the Chilean Angélica Castro, who will play a transgender character, and Marco de la O (El Chapo).
Román emphasizes that 20% of the budget will be dedicated to the new safety protocols which they are very strict about since it will be one of the first productions to start in Miami after the confinement.
