To have solid scripts that can later be adjusted and not lower the writing quality due to the new normality is the key, according to Alejandro “El Patas” Lozano, showrunner of Control Z and executive producer of Lemon Studios.
Lozano gave the example of Argentinean cinema in the nineties: “Impressive content that beat the resources” and that is why he reiterated that with the new normality, we must prevent adjustments from being noticed. “The worse that can happen to us is for people to watch the content five years from now and say: ´this was shot during the pandemic´”.
Precisely those are challenges showrunners must face and he explained that they are working on the new season of Control Z, but being very careful to not compromise the quality nor the essence. Lozano was one of the panelists, together with Billy Rovzar and Francisco Ramos, Original Contents VP for Latin America and Spain at Netflix, on the webinar El Streaming No Se Detiene: el Arte del Showrunner organized by the Mexican education institution Centro.
