Sheila Aguirre de Fremantle
Despite the impact of COVID-19 on distribution, with some clients placing their purchase decision on suspense, “others anticipated that the situation would take time to be resolved and continued working with us. Despite many uncertainties, the demand of cans has increased and we are on our way to a stellar year,” expressed Sheila Aguirre, EVP Distribution for Latin America and International at Fremantle.
She mentioned that on all the platforms and markets, the audience has increased. “As productions stopped, platforms adjusted the programming schedules to the interruptions and, as a result, the sales of cans increased,” expressed Aguirre.
Aguirre explained that they have continued expanding the library. “This has always been key for our business in course. Even if we continue expanding, we have also found a great opportunity for the catalog content,” she added.
Regarding the work dynamic, Aguirre recalled that Fremantle LatAm has been a satellite office since 2002, therefore, in this sense, they have always worked independently and remotely from their headquarters in the United Kingdom. Through the use of new communication technologies, they have managed to continue discussing their content successfully, present new programs, offer screenings to clients, and close numerous sales.
“The greatest challenge for me has been not being able to sit with a client and have a good conversation. With the years, I have established relations with our clients and truly enjoy sitting down with them for a cup of coffee and having a good exchange. Technology has allowed us to continue doing business, but it has taken away the personal touch,” she ended.
