WarnerMedia Entertainment has agreed a partnership with New Cadence Productions (NCP), that gathers creative Latinos from film and TV in the US, to produce comedy specials.
Initially, NCP will produce comedy specials from the recently created HA Comedy Festival in San Antonio, where WarnerMedia Entertainment will be the main sponsor. The three-day festival will include Latin comedians and celebrities with the aim to highlight new stand-up and sketch talents. The partnership also includes the commitment to developing a new series.
“The NCP team understands how to make the most of a group of vibrant talents and show ideas, stories, and characters that will resonate in this neglected audience,” said Kevin Reilly, Content Director at HBO Max and president of TNT, TBS, and truTV.
“WarnerMedia really understands what I have called the new mainstream economy, that is being boosted by Latinos in the US who contribute US$2.1 billion to the GDP and represent a fourth of the people under 34,” said Sol Trujillo, who leads the NCP.
With this partnership, the AT&T media giant is taking the path to the development of comedy specials to compete in one of the genres that Netflix has exploited most, now their rival in the OTT ecosystem.
