Kerim Emrah Turna, executive director of Kanal D International, commented that they began selling their titles to Turkish and international online platforms. “For years, we kept our content for our AVOD and SVOD brands. After the company was sold, the strategy has changed and we bet on working with national and international players. We have already signed contracts with the main players,” he assured.
On the other hand, he commented that international sales have stabilized in Latin America and are making headway in Spain. In fact, Kanal D has become the first company to sell Turkish content to Spain (Fatmagul to Atresmedia). “We opened the doors of the Spanish media to Turkish content, and are about to close important agreements with all the main players.”
Regarding Latin America, he commented that the pressure of dollar began started to hit all the countries (beginning with Argentina and Brazil), and that, additionally, channels face the decline in revenues for advertising, while they try to grasp the changes that online broadcast brings.
“Somehow, our presence in Latin American countries is guaranteed by the audience. Therefore, all the countries continue buying Turkish content, according to their current programming needs. Argentina, Peru, and Mexico are the main markets,” explained the executive.
In this MIPTV new titles such as Lost Scent and Ruthless City and high-demand products (Wounded Love, Price of Passion, Double Trouble and the family drama Twins) take part of Kanal D International’s offerings.
