Carmen Larios (former National Geographic and former Discovery Networks) joined the A+E Networks Latin America team as Senior VP and Head of Content at A&E and Lifetime.
“For me, it is a new challenge because I came from working in factual and am now working in entertainment,” said Larios.
Regarding Lifetime, that is the newest of the two channels she manages, their main goals are: to build a brand, audience, and distribution, and for that reason, they plan to add original production of several of their formats.
During 2019 they will continue highlighting empowering of women and for them to have more and more participation. “70% of films and series are thought for women and made, directed and produced by women,” she added.
According to the executive, one of the main challenges is to work on different platforms with a message that is coherent with each one of them.
In the case of A&E, they will continue with iconic series such as NCIS and Bull and important Hollywood movies with research programs. They are also working on several original production projects.
For the executive, right now, the main differentiator is being creative in the way you program, you produce and buy and she feels there will be pay TV for a long time since it is going to be complemented with other media and platforms.
