Television host Poncho de Anda and Univision’s El Gordo y La Flaca personality Clarissa Molina will present the second season of La Gran Sorpresa aboard ships from Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line – three of Carnival Corporation’s nine global cruise line brands.
Each one-hour episode of La Gran Sorpresa uses the power of travel to reunite families as they overcome hardships created by illness, separation and other challenges. For the new season, the series surprises several families as they sail to popular destinations including Ketchikan, Alaska; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Barcelona, Spain; and Monte Carlo.
The first episode features Amneris López, a pediatric oncology nurse from San Juan, Puerto Rico who lost everything to Hurricane Maria. Without a job, she had to move with her husband and son to Tennessee. However, due to financial constraints and the language barrier, Amneris has not been able to obtain her license to practice nursing in her new community. La Gran Sorpresa will give her another opportunity and will change her life forever aboard Carnival Fascination cruise ship.
La Gran Sorpresa is a partnership between Univision Communications Inc. and Carnival Corporation. La Gran Sorpresa is the seventh Ocean Original series created by Carnival Corporation, and the fifth to appear on network or cable TV in the U.S. and the first to engage the growing Hispanic community in the U.S.
