An enthusiastic and eager Roberto Blatt, director of the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Audiovisual in Uruguay, ICAU, offered his country in #PRODUprimetime to the international industry for them to make their projects there, free of virus, and in addition, with cash rebate incentives that double and even triple the investment made.

With more than 30 years in Spain creating and distributing pay-TV channels, this Uruguayan returned to his country and is now part of several state entities working jointly to make Uruguay an international production hub.

“Uruguay has handled the pandemic very well and has established enough safety protocols to be able to shoot when in the rest of the world it is not allowed,” he said.

“We have reached a point of industrial, artistic, and cultural maturity in the audiovisual field, and we are ready to become a hub for the development and filming of projects around the world. From the region, productions from Brazil, Argentina, and the US, including Miami, are already pouring in,” he expressed.

“We understood that the audiovisual field has become a strategic industry and culture for the country and that it is somehow modernizing and transforming the image of Uruguay known for its soccer and our magnificent meat”.

“We want audiovisual activities to multiply two and threefold, the same multiplier we apply to incentives. Additionally, we have the usual advantages of political stability, legal security, a great deal of financial flexibility, and zero VAT for productions”.
