Leo de Biase de BBL

Leo de Biase, co-founder and Chief Relationship Officer at BBL, explained that the videogame industry is huge, with millions of players worldwide and millions of investment dollars, and that esports are the competition nucleus with increasingly more players and where all the brands want to be. This was in the context of the first Esports Talks AMC Networks International – Latin America: Introduction to the World of Esports webinar.

He highlighted the growth they had during the pandemic due to the absence of traditional sports and with many daily tournaments and contents.

“Esports has existed for 20 years, but it is true they have grown a great deal in the last few years with a greater investment of developing companies and many career opportunities; there is a huge industry with great investment and audience,” he said.

He detailed that the main players are publishers, that they are the owners of the games and the IP; the audience; the brands, that they are wanting to talk to this audience, which is highly qualified and ranges between the ages of 18 and 35, approximately; tournament organizers, who also fulfill the role of consultants and evangelizers; teams; leagues and streaming platforms, such as Twitch, Nimo TV and YouTube.
Regarding 2021, he estimates it will be a good year, because they expect to return to face-to-face, and publishers, who won a great deal of money in the pandemic, will make a big investment in appreciation of the support they had from their community during these eight months.

BBL is building a stadium in Sao Paulo that will put Latin America on the global map of big events.
