Noticias Telemundo announced the appointment of journalist Alejandro Manrique as its director for Mexico and Central America, based in Mexico City. The appointment, which becomes effective immediately, is part of Noticias Telemundos strategy to strengthen its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean, a region of paramount importance to U.S. Hispanic audiences. The addition of Alejandro to our team is a step toward consolidating our regional operation at a key time for Noticias Telemundo. He has the experience, knowledge and journalistic discipline needed to cover the news in one of the regions of most interest to our viewers, said Luis Fernández, executive vice president of Network News at Telemundo.
