Gonzalo Armendares, general manager of Underground Producciones, told PRODU in NATPE that in 2016 they have several projects to be developed, including, Las Maras, a fiction program on Salvadorian gangs, which they will develop with Azteca. The script is now being created. Another project is Un Gallo para Esculapio, written and directed by the prestigious Argentinean film director, Bruno Stagnaro.”Las Maras is a fiction program about a family that is deported from the US in the 80s. They all return to their country, El Salvador, except one of the family members who stays in the US and starts to progress as a journalist. After the death of one of his brothers resulting from gang fights in El Salvador, he returns to his country and gets involved with the Maras and ends up becoming a leader in the gang, he explained. Un Gallo para Esculapio, an eight or thirteen episode series, also fiction, tells the story of a man from the countryside who arrives at the big city looking for his brother with a fighting cock he takes for him from Northern Argentina. Along the way things happen to him, and he gets involved with criminal bands in a slum in the city.Shooting of Educando a Nina, which they make with Telefe, is about to begin and it will start being aired between March and April. They are also working on a film about the criminal serial killer Eduardo Robledo Puch.
