Comcast´s IP cable service, Stream, will debut first in Boston, US, at the end of summer. The service is estimated to be available on all the cable operators´territories by 2016. Stream´s first stage offers nearly a dozen channels including open TV channels in Spanish, such as Univisión and Telemundo, and HBO premium (including HBO Latino), as well as Streampix, which comprises a solid collection of Hispanic films and novelas, explained Javier García, VP and general manager of Multicultural Services, Comcast to PRODU.García points out that this group of channels is only the beginning. The service will continue to evolve with offers such as ‘choose your premium’, offering Stream consumers the possibility of choosing from a list of premium channels -Spanish channels potentially included- and additional packages, offering clients the ability to expand their programming options and the possibility of seeing content on TVs connected to the Internet.García said that Comcast will continue expanding its products, services and experiences to satisfy the needs of increasing consumer segments and to attract new generations of Hispanic consumers.In 2013, we were one of the first to begin offering skinnier bundles when we launched Internet Plus, providing customers with 25 Mbps Internet speeds and access to about a dozen channels of cable on the TV including all of their local broadcast channels, HBO, and Streampix, for just US$40 per month. We also recently launched “Internet Plus Latino, offering customers broadband service, broadcast channels, and our Xfinity Latino tier for US$40/month, he said.
