The Story Nest: We want to bring edgy ideas and not perpetuate the narco-series trend

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| September 25, 2014

Juan Camilo Ferrand

Writer Juan Camilo Ferrand, who, along with Imagina US, took on the challenge of launching The Story Nest -company that develops original fictions in Spanish for U.S. Hispanic and Latin America-, told PRODU that the idea is not to perpetuate the trend of narco-series, which have been very successful.“The intention is to come up with projects and formats based on current or past events, that bring something new to the screen and spark new trends; products that take advantage of this momentum to challenge proven formulas and risk following new, edgier and diverse paths; that engage with the audience,” said Ferrand. He said The Story Nest plans to produce tailor-made content for cable, SVOD and OTT, following the same approach on innovation or, in the case of broadcast channels, responding to the needs of a particular country while allowing them to successfully navigate in an organic way across the entire region.Ferrand will lead a group of writers who will tackle several projects simultaneously. “We will put the same seal of quality and thoroughness that I place on all the projects I take on, from the first to the last episode,” he added.
