In the eve of the 10th anniversary of ESPN Deportes in the U.S., general manager Lino García, who has been spearheading its development, told PRODU he’s happy about the goals reached and the growth during this period.“We’ve grown in all aspects: in production and additional platforms: radio, magazine and digital. I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done and the support we’ve received at ESPN in general and ESPN Deportes in particular. We want to continue growing and giving our sports fans more of what they like, and give them the opportunity to enjoy it on all platforms, wherever they are, any time,” he said.García pointed out the channel has an extensive operation to offer coverage of the 2014 World Cup (ESPN Deportes does not have the rights to broadcast the matches in Spanish in the U.S., but ESPN does have the rights in English).“Like in the past, we have a large production team that will travel to Rio de Janeiro to cover the World Cup. This time, we have the facilities of the ESPN Brasil network: a team that already knows the territory and will give us an advantage in everything we do. We will feature most of our shows live from Rio,” he added.
