AYM Sports: Distribution of Latin American Sports in the U.S. grows

November 1, 2012

Benjamin Hinojosa, president of AYM Sports

AYM Sports began in the Hispanic market of the U.S. 9 years ago with its channel of the same name. More recently, the company launched Latin American Sports (LAS) in Puerto Rico three years ago, and it has already began to grow as far as distribution within the U.S. “LAS has had a lot of success. We launched on DISH in Puerto Rico but now in the U.S. we’re on Comcast and Cablevision, and Verizon will soon take us on too. Verizon wants the HD version of LAS to launch for the first trimester of the coming year” said Benjamin Hinojosa, president of AYM Sports, told PRODU. In respect to AYM Sports, the executive emphasized how solid the company is within the U.S., the cable systems and the telecommunication companies. “We’ve had a bit of difficulty entering in the DTH. We’ve grown and developed a lot of content specifically for the territory. We see a strong growth within contact sports in Mexico, and in turn we’ve strengthened our content in free fighting, mixed martial arts, boxing and kickboxing, which are sports they like a lot in the U.S.”
