Arturo Chávez, senior VP of Hispanic Channels of Olympusat, is at the forefront of the 10 HD channels recently launched by the company for the Latin American and Hispanic markets. Chavez assumed this position in January.During an interview in Los Angeles, Chávez told PRODU: I am the one who supervises all the channels, and we have various people buying for each. The persons include Maritza Guimet who buys for Ultra Tainment and Ultra Luna, Maria Luz Zuchella who buys for Cine Mexicano and Ultra Mex, Leonardo Alvarado who buys for Ultra Docu and Ultra Macho, and Juan Zuchella who buys for Ultra Films, Ultra Macho and Ultra Docu.He indicated that there are negotiations in Latin America to launch the channels through two cable systems in Mexico and Puerto Rico. Albert Estrada is in charge of sales in Latin America. In regards to original productions for these signals, Chávez indicated that they have produced 80 movies for their channel Cine Mexicano. Were thinking of producing our own TV series for Ultra Tainment and other productions in Mexico for the movie channels.The executive also commented that in the future, they intend to sell airtime to be able to make up for the transmission costs.
