In January, Patricia Janiot, CNN en Españols main anchor and veteran journalist, celebrates 20 years of being part of the networks team. Janiot, a native of Colombia joined CNN in 1992 as an anchor of Noticiero CNN Internacional, which was then the only Spanish newscast of the network. Since then, Janiot has emerged as the main journalist of CNN en Español. Throughout her career she has shared with millions of viewers in Latin America, Canada and all around the world some of the most iconic news of the past two decades. Janiot had a leading role in the coverage of news events such as: The terrorist attacks of New York and London; the death and funeral of Pope John Paul II from The Vatican; the wake of the U.S. war in Iraq from Kuwait; the presidential elections in Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the Gaza Strip, as well as several political conventions and presidential elections in the U.S. and Latin America. Janiot is the main anchor of the afternoon show Nuestro Mundo, and co-presents the evening news show Panorama Mundial. In these 20 years she has interviewed the vast majority of Latin American heads of State such as: Fidel Castro, Hugo Chávez, General Augusto Pinochet as well as former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
