Carlos Vasallo, owner of Hispanic channels Cine Estelar and Cine Nostalgia –which recently signed exclusivity deals with DirecTV Más for the U.S. Hispanic market – announced at Natpe that they are undergoing a phase of distribution expansion with U.S. pay-TV operators. The channels are also being distributed through the Verizon platform.Vasallo owns an extensive library of Mexican films for the Hispanic market: attractive programming genres for each channel with low repetition rates, the rights to distribute the films on all platforms, and a variety of titles.“That is the winning combination that has allowed Cine Estelar and Cine Nostalgia to be positioned among the 10 most viewed Spanish-language channels in the U.S. through DirecTV, and be sought out by many other distributors,” said Vasallo. He also pointed out that his network VasalloVisión is growing and is currently nearing a 14% reach in U.S. Hispanic homes.
