On Monday, December 5th, Comcast will open the doors to its new Spanish-language Center of Excellence in Miramar, Florida. The national call center will exclusively be dedicated to handling sales calls from Spanish-speaking consumers across the country. This opening of this Center has added 300 new jobs to the community, a move that has been applauded by leaders in the state of Florida, including Governor Rick Scott who will be on hand together with Comcast Corporation executive vice president David Cohen and other notables to officially open the Center on Monday. This new Center has done its part to help fuel the Florida economy in terms of creating new jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Florida currently has a 10.3% unemployment rate, which is steadily getting better, compared to other states in the nation. In addition, the employment rate for Hispanics nationwide is currently at 11.3%, more than two points higher than the nationwide average; therefore employment opportunities that specifically require candidates to speak Spanish are a plus for many Hispanics who are looking to use their language skills to seek out new job opportunities.
