(Maribel Ramos-Weiner). The Dominican Republics Supercanal S.A. already has three signals being distributed in the U.S. Hispanic market. The first one, Supercanal Caribe, was introduced in 2000. It was followed in 2007 by Dominican View and in 2009 by Tele El Salvador. In January we launched Supercanal Caribe nationwide on the grid of Verizon FiOS. We have had a favorable response from all our subscribers. Our programming is designed to meet our audiences expectations: its balanced, with general entertainment, news, music, specials, cooking, comedy, interviews, and childrens programming, said to PRODU Marco Antonio Jorge Kurdas, Executive VP of Supercanal. Supercanal Caribe, the groups flagship channel, is also carried by Cablevision, Comcast, and Time Warner.Regarding Tele El Salvador, the companys youngest channel, Jorge said: We decided to launch in the U.S. because it is home to 2.5 million Salvadorians. Thats about a third of the population of El Salvador. The numbers are there.Tele El Salvador has been received well. The first system to come on board was Cablevision, then RCN, and now we will sign with Verizon. There are other operators interested as well. The 10 years we have been on the air have helped us earn the trust of cable operators in the U.S., added Jorge. This project is a partnership between Frank Jorge Elías, President and CEO; Gerónimo Estevez (Miami entrepreneur), Ernesto Smith and Marcos Jorge Elías.
