Univisión moves to become a key information source in the U.S.

According to a report by the EFE agency, industry experts believe Univisión is looking to position itself as a premiere news source in the U.S.The report indicates that with the naming of Isaac Lee, a journalist “with great imagination and creative abilities,” as News Director of Univisión, the network seeks to become a main player in the news arena. It aims to compete with Anglo news media and seeks to attract a younger audience; one comprised of heavy users of Internet and mobile devices.The report indicates Lee is a personal friend of Univisión’s president, César Conde, and characterizes him as one of the most respected Latin American journalists due to his extensive experience in various media outlets, as well as his experience as a producer of documentaries and television programs. It is expected that Lee will radically transform the current news department at Univisión.
