Pilar Sanchez Macias, partner manager of YouTube MCNs and Kids Partnerships for Spain and Portugal, said the platform is trying to provide more support for content creators by means of an alternative monetization. Which is to say, aside from the income they receive for advertising, creatives can have better ways to generate revenue through users. “If you have a really large fan base, they’ll want to join in to help you. Among these forms of monetization we have memberships, super chats, super stickers and super fans that use direct videos or videos on demand (VOD), by which they can send a worthwhile comment or have an emoji for a fee. It’s an attempt to support creatives through all their followers, who are those who want them to remain on the platform,” Sanchez explained within the MAFIZ framework.Pilar was also consulted about the policy of inclusion and diversity that the platform offers. “YouTube tries to organically respect diversity and all points of view. What we do – through training programs – is try to help groups that are less represented on the platform. We have the program of Black Voices that is done in certain countries to help those creatives of color who can have much less representation and much less access to the transformation. It’s a way to give them support and training so they can advance more on the platform,” she said. She also noted that Spain has the #SheisYoutube program with a community of 250 creative women, young and old, who are given training, who interact with each other, teach one another, launch playing fields and events. She added that in Latin America there exists the Female Voices program.Within the framework of digitization, YouTube Spain launched last year the programa Digitalizarte, a free educational program focused on digitizing the world of culture. Pilar went on to say that anyone who wants to learn more on YouTube should enter the platform to take the course. She also spoke of the future of audiences. “It’s clear that audiences are moving the world online. According to the latest data of Barlovento, You Tube has a 35 percent share of all audiovisual groups in Spain, replacing TV. That makes it easier and easier for creators to reach global audiences through YouTube. I believe what the future holds is that from the recording studio in your house you can find these followers around the world,” Pilar said.
