Lucas Rey of Corona, Advertiser of the Year: Our challenge is to create a bond with consumers through campaigns able to impact the industry

For the Plastic Fishing campaign, Corona Beer received the Advertiser of the Year award during the PRODU Awards Industry Gala. “Campeonato de Pesca de Plástico is a piece that fills us with pride because it has a social purpose,” said Lucas Rey, Brand Manager of Corona after receiving the award.“Today we are working not only on glass returnability, but we also have the goal of becoming a brand with zero plastic emissions. Collecting the plastic waste in the oceans is something that fills us with pride.”This PRODU award aims to promote the transformation of the industry through creative and innovative actions allowing to connect with new audiences in a transparent and authentic way.Since its inception, Corona has been linked to the preservation of the seas/oceans and that motivated launching the first plastic fishing championship. It’s a global scale initiative where fishermen from all over the world were rewarded for fishing plastic from the ocean. The campaign was created together with the We Believers and it retrieved more than 20 tons of plastic from the ocean.
