Alvar Suñol de ALMA
The multicultural agency ALMA stood out at the 2018 FIAP Awards with 12 trophies. Winning four golds, six silvers and two bronzes, it ranked third among Latin American agencies and was also the only agency representing the U.S. Hispanic market that took home some of the prizes. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the city of Buenos Aires. “For us it is always an honor. These awards encourage us to keep doing better. It’s not an obsession, but we feel it’s important to have the quality of our work recognized” said Álvar Suñol, Co-President and CCO of the agency. “Most of the awards here today at FIAP are for works that have also won at Cannes, CLIO and El Sol. Today’s awards are only further proof that these are good ideas, ideas that work, ideas that are liked, that connect, and this is what motivates us to keep on creating.” Suñol, who was also a juror at the FIAP Awards, called it a great experience. “It’s impossible not to learn because you’re sharing with some very talented people, great professionals,” he said. “As for this festival that comes towards the end of the year, I had already seen a number of the entries including some with a certain pedigree because they have won elsewhere – so I knew the quality level would be very high.” With regard to the 2018 festival, he said that since it’s the second year with the new format, it probably needs a little more work on the categories, because “as happens with every innovation, it takes time to get everything perfectly right – but the way they organized the content was really interesting.” Note: The awards listed here come from the official FIAP list.
