Jemal: Este tipo de eventos son una incubadora de ideas
Shooters Films recently produced the KIA Motors campaign for the 2018 World Cup. The production company’s Executive Producer Mauricio Jemal spoke about the film directed by Emigdio Gonzalez-Molla. “It was a story that kept growing. At first it was something for the Hispanic market, then they told us it would be aired for the general market – and it ended up being KIA’s strategy in the U.S. during the World Cup” Jemal said. “KIA is a great soccer sponsor worldwide and the spot was quite a hit” he added. “Emigdio was picked to direct it because he is young, modern, and this commercial required someone with vision and great sensitivity, since it was an emotional story that ran parallel to a humorous digital campaign.”He noted that the project was super laborious and included a very tedious casting process to portray ages ranging from 9 up to college age. “For the first time KIA used a car that wasn’t new – it started off new and aged along with the family. This was a big production challenge – we kept changing the parts and repainting it. People who see it even shed a tear or two and get this very sentimental feeling. It was very successful because it aired on all TV networks. And it was a treat taking part in this project.”Shooters is currently venturing into feature films and TV series. “Commercials are our first love and always will be, but we are also doing feature films. We had a very nice experience in Cuba shooting Havana Kyrie, which will screen next fall. It was a joint production with Vedado Films, our partners in Cuba, and with Franco Nero in the leading role. In this story, directed by Paolo Consorti, music is the star.”
