Gallegos United and Burrell Communications shined at the 2017 National Association for Multiethnic Communication Awards (NAMIC), which awarded its Excellence Awards in Multicultural Marketing (EMMA). This award recognizes excellence in marketing efforts designed to attract and retain culturally diverse audiences and clients among African Americans, Asians, Latinos, LGBTQs, communities of the disabled, and other segments of the market. “The culturally relevant connections that agencies and companies establish with consumer niches are priceless and are a great way to build brand equity in these markets” said Pawan Mehra, EMMA jury, and NAMIC committee member. Gallegos United received seven awards. Three for Beautifully Bilingual for Comcast, with the first in the Integrated Marketing Campaigns category and Print, and the second in Television. For Interruptions, also for Comcast, it was ranked third in Integrated Marketing Campaigns. The #ApplaudLGBT campaign for Comcast won first place in Social Media. While Language Choice 2.0 and One Man Band for Comcast both obtained the third place in Television. Burrell Communications won nine awards, four for the Celebrating Women Behind the Scenes campaign for Comcast, which included two top spots in Television and Out of Home, a second in Integrated Marketing Campaigns, and a third in Print. Speak Your Mind for Comcast, earned third place in Integrated Marketing Campaigns and Television; Tune In for Comcast, First on Radio, Be King for the same client won second on Print, and Unplug & Connect, third in Integrated Marketing Campaigns.
