A recent study of Media, Diversity & Social Change (MDSC) initiative at USC Annenberg, concluded that the main Hollywood films have done very little to change the diversity record in the agency, and that Latinos are still one of the less represented groups, reaching the lowest levels since 2009. The problem affects the general ecosystem of creative industries. Production companies like Cortez Brothers have also joined the complaint over the little representation this group has in cinema. The study titled: Inequity in 900 Films, lists the prevalence of film characters based on their race and ethnicity between 2007 and 2016. According to the data, last year, Latino actors amounted to 3.1% of all roles in films, while white ones had 70.8 %, Afro Americans 13.6%, and Asians 5.7%. It is worrisome if we take into account that in 2015, Latinos were 5.3%.According to the report, there has been no significant change in the percentages of Afro Americans, Hispanics, Asians or other races, throughout the years they have been researched. It also highlighted that few action stars were of several races, and that there were no Latinos in lead roles and as co-stars.
