Luis Gutiérrez, Founder at Latinos Progresando; Dante Alvarado-León, Founder at Mentor Room; Roxane Hara, Founder at Mujeres Ayudando Mujeres, and Felipe Pinzón, VP at Programs for Hispanic Unity of Florida are the four winners of the 2017 Positive Impact Awards (PIA). For four years, these awards have celebrated and honored everyday Hispanic Americans who give their time, knowledge, money and resources to create a difference in their communities. “In the midst of these strange times, it is even more imperative that we uplift those Hispanic Americans who provide exceptional and positive contributions to our nation” said Manny Ruiz, Founder and CEO at Hispanicize Media Group. “By exalting their hard work and dedication, we hope to inspire others to promote change in their own ways.” Gutiérrez won the Community Revitalization award; Alvarado-León, the S.T.E.M. Star; Hara, in Professional Empowerment, and Pinzón in Financial Education. “We are proud to honor Luis, Dante, Roxane and Felipe for their important work in addressing some of the complex and evolving financial and social challenges of our time” said Lata Reddy, VP of Corporate Social Responsibility at Prudential Financial and President at The Prudential Foundation, company that presented the PIA. “We are grateful to Prudential for once again supporting this program and for making it possible to continue to celebrate these unsung heroes and their accomplishments” said Ruiz. PIAs were created in 2013 in honor of Louis Pagan, Co-Founder at Hispanicize and a well-known social media entrepreneur who suddenly passed away in February 2013.
