The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute – CHLI launched on Thursday September 22th a series of forums as part of the Red White Y Tú tour, that will gather speakers from congress, civilian leaders and community members experts in election research and students to discuss the importance of education on political processes and participation of Hispanic voters. “We are thrilled with the start of the Red White Y Tú tour in Los Angeles and with taking it accross the country to educate, attract and empower millenial hispanics to vote” said Mary Ann Gómez Orta, President and CEO at CHLI. She explained that the population of Hispanic voters is currently 28.5 million, and that each month approximately 67.000 Latinos reach the age of 18. Among the sponsors of the tour are Azteca América, Grupo Salina, Target, the National Association of Elected & Appointed Officials – NALEO, The Coalición Latina and Argus Events & Marketing. Manuel Abud, President and CEO of Azteca America, said they were committed with these crucial elections to help raise awareness and the commitment of voters in their audience, mainly millennials. The next forum will be on September 26th at the Texas University in San Antonio, and the tour will end in Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) on Thursday September 29th.
