Soraya Alcalá recibió su reconocimiento de manos del congresista Carlos Curbelo
The U.S. Congress acknowledged 18 outstanding Venezuelan women on the occasion of the celebration of “International Women´s Day” on March 8th. Congressman, Carlos Curbelo delivered the acknowlegdment highlighting the Honor to Dedication, Talent and Invaluable Contribution of Venezuelan Women to Multiculturalism in the U.S.The acknowledgement, which consisted in a certificate and a waving U.S. flag on behalf of each one, takes place at the request of the Association of Venezuelan Mothers and Women Abroad (AMAVEX for its initials in Spanish). Helene Villalonga, activist and Director of the association highlighted that this award is deserved only by those who have a distinguished career path that has ennobled the names of their countries.The awardees include Soraya Alcalá, Editor of Columna Estilos, pioneer in digital format and creator of Estilos Media, who was honored precisely in the month when she was celebrating her portal’s tenth anniversary. “I feel immensely grateful and blessed, this is an excellent example to prove that when you work with passion, responsibility and effort, expecting nothing in return, everything is possible in the country of opportunities” said Alcalá.The following women were also acknowledged: Bárbara Palacios, former Miss Venezuela and former Miss Universe, and a long path entrepreneur in the US; actress and social activist Fabiola Colmenares; Carla Angola and Nathaly Salas Guaitero, both anchors of El Venezolano TV and TV Venezuela, respectively, together with the entire group of women entrepreneurs and fighters for social causes.
