With a video that collects important worldwide events in messages that have no more than 140 characters, Twitter yesterday celebrated its tenth anniversary. The social network was born on March 21st 2016 with a 24-character message written by its co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey. The spot began circulating in a tweet from Australia and New Zealand to cover the all the different time zones. “As March 21 begins around the world, each of our global offices will kick off the day by showing our appreciation and gratitudestarting in Sydney and following the sun to headquarters in San Francisco. We are excited to celebrate with all of you” Twitter said. The celebration tweet -140 characters long- appears in the video and says: “Throughout the years, you’ve made Twitter what it is today and you’re shaping what it will be in the future. Thank you for making history, driving change, lifting each other up and laughing together every day” and it ends with the hashtag #LoveTwitter followed by a heart and the Twitter symbols, that are generated automatically with that hashtag.Although rumor has it that Twitter intends to increase the limit of the characters in their messages, it hasn’t happened yet.The social network published other celebration videos, including some from individual users like @KatyPerry, @taylorswift13, @JimmyKimmel, among others.
