Melinda Piña is an educator with over 25 years of experience as a teacher, reading trainer, and a specialist in reading and language arts. She currently directs the Piña Reading Academy in Whittier, California, where she works with children and adults who need instruction support in the areas of reading and mathematics. Ford acknowledged her for this work with the Hispanic community as one of its Legendary Women. “I feel honored to have been chosen as a Ford Legendary Woman. It is exciting to have this opportunity to meet other Latina women who are outstanding in different fields and have used their strength, intelligence and commitment to become leaders in their communities.
