Margaret Gould Stewart: Debemos ser humildes en el proceso de diseño
For Margaret Gould Stewart, Director of Product Design at Facebook, it is necessary to make advertising an exchange in which users are treated as a non-renewable resource. “We must aim towards sustainable and respectful advertising. In Facebook we seek to empower people in the use of technology and in the design of their own experience”. In the framework of the first day of the IAB MIXX, Gould presented the keys to design products centered on consumers in a talk titled The Value Exchange.”Designing in the mobile age is very different. No only is it a change, it is an earthquake. Mobile devices help us work, play and connect at all times. They are hyper-personalized and fit in our pockets. As advertisers we have the right to live in people’s pockets, and we cannot take that for granted. We must be thankful for and respect the position we are facing” she said. Another piece of advice was to design for the people in the place where they are. “Most people in the world don’t have 4G, but there are great opportunities to reach new markets and know the type of connection each person has. You just have to adapt to those possibilities” she added. “Facebook has 1.4 billion platform creators, not just the design team. It is a living being in which people teach us new ways to use what we built. We must be humble in the design process” she concluded.
