Stephanie Dolgins is the first CMO of the social network, Tumblr. She was appointed in March, and since then she has been in charge of the brands growth. Previously she was Dolgins & Company director. She talked in an interview about her strategies and pointed out the need for Tumblr to develop a formal marketing department. “Tumblr did a tremendous job of growing its audience organically over the years. Right now we’ve just been building incredible momentum, and adding the marketing focus will help us tap our potential overall and help fuel our growth” she explained. For Dolgins, Tumblrs advantage is offering content for everyone. “I think that broadening our focus and audience it’s about finding and striking that right balance between staying true to our brand ethos and our core audience, as you also look for new ways to expand and grow” she said. Tumblr is experiencing a huge amount of growth on mobile. “78% of our audience currently accesses Tumblr through mobile devices, so a lot of what will be focused on is mobile experience” she added. Among her future strategies she mentioned the in depth development of original content and new alliances with business partners that address their audience. “Tumblr is a platform that enables creativity and self-expression, looks for content trending, while noticing how it’s creating this cultural dialogue happening in society.”
