Mondelez International is planning organizational changes in its Marketing department in North America, including layoffs in some jobs to improve its profit margins.The measures, which will go into effect at the start of 2016, are focused on improving effectiveness and efficiency, as confirmed by a company spokesperson. The company said that some details were shared with the employees, but didn’t specify which roles would be assigned. Mondelez, known for its brands like Oreo and Ritz, has focused on reducing costs and other restructuring efforts after its separation from Kraft Foods in 2012.The product giant aims to reduce its annual operation costs in US$1,5 billion by the end of 2018, as part of a restructuring plan presented in May 2014. It had 104,000 employees worldwide at the end of last year, compared to 107,000 in 2013.Among the changes the company has made in its organizational structure is Dana Anderson’s promotion to SVP and CMO in September last year.
