Pujol: Espero que en unos años el panorama dentro del sector sea más equitativo
Historically, the advertising industry has been dominated by men. Spanish director, Mireia Pujol, is part of the 3% of women who work in the world of creativity. Her professionalism and her vision have earned her multiple acknowledgements. In an interview with PRODU she explained that despite feeling “inevitably alone” in her guild, a change is taking place to include a great deal of talent that hasn´t been discovered.”I think that gradually there are more women holding positions of responsibility. There aren´t many of us, but new directors, new executive producers, new creative directors are appearing”, she said. “I hope that in a few years the landscape in the sector is more balanced. In film schools the number of women who want to become profesional in audiovisual careers is multiplying. Undoubtedly, there is a future for everyone”. Pujol describes herself as a person with character and thinks this feature has been crucial for reaching her professional achievements. “Maybe women in positions of responsibility are required to transmit a plus of security and forcefulness. I struggle to the end for what I believe in and aim to be clear and loyal to myself. I must confess I suffer a great deal”.The director said she feels sad over the fact that the advertising and film industry are still in that point. The day we no longer wonder if a story was created by a man or a woman will be the day when we’ll truly overcome sex differences”, she commented.
