The art of illustration: Todo resumido en 15 años que muestran lo mejor de la ilustración
The Gunn Report, an annual publication that identifies and lists the most awarded new jobs in the advertising industry, recently announced the award-winning collection of 50 print campaigns from 21 different countries. All summed up in 15 years that shows the best of illustration. In the past, the art of advertising largely consisted of wood engravings in black and white. Today, 90% of the ads use photographs, therefore, the use of illustrations is already a different and less common style in advertising. However, this latter art, when properly used, becomes a convenient item to carry the creative idea, making it even more fun and more expressive. The legendary art director of the UK, Neil Dawson, who has written a prologue to the series entitled The art of illustration commented: “This selection of works use illustration not for their own sake, but because it gives the way and style message and brand. These ideas just would not work with photography.”Dawson, along with his creative partner for long, Clive Pickering, recently created his own creative agency, Dawson Pickering. As a global creative director of DDB in the account Philips, Dawson won the Grand Prix at Cannes for Carousel & Parallel Lines. At Volkswagen, he and Pickering presented surprisingly extraordinary pieces.Watch the exclusive show on the website {The Gunn Report; www.gunnreport.com}.
