Jared Leto, renowned actor and musician, as well as director, producer and entrepreneur, was invited to participate in the second day of IAB Mixx 2014. During his conversation with Bob Pittman, president and delegate counselor of iHeartMedia, the young actor presented the importance of music in communications. “The most important part of making music is communication and connectivity,” he said. “The sound has to come from a place of authenticity.”Leto compared advertiser goals with those of a musician or an actor. “We often see and hear things without feeling anything,” he said. “Victory comes when something is felt and thought.” Finally, he shared one last tip for advertisers: “One must take big risks in advertising without fear of failure. The best marketers are those who break the mold,” he concluded. His two decades of work as an actor have included a series of intense and transformative performances that have earned him his first Oscar, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards.As director, he works under the pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbins. Also under that name, he directed music videos for the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, of which he is the lead singer, guitarist and composer. The group has performed more than 300 concerts in about 60 countries on six continents to three million people, and has reached the five million albums sales in addition to being awarded a dozen MTV awards and Billboard Award Music.
