Last Saturday June, 28th, Singer and entrepreneur Gloria Estefan, inaugurated the event in the Miami Marine Stadium. Estefan, trustee of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and who was appointed as Spokesperson of the Miami Marine Stadium, in May, 2013; was accompanied by representatives of the National Foundation and Friends of the Miami Marine Stadium to talk about the campaign to restore the iconic stadium, including an announcement on her behalf. Among the activities during the event was the presentation of the mural project ART History Mural Project, for which nine world-renowned contemporary street artists were invited to create large-scale murals with themes related to the stadium. The project, curated by artist and muralist stencil, Logan Hicks, has a list of international and local street artists, including Luis Berros, Doze Green, Elbow Toe, Evoca1, Ian KualiI, Joe Iurato, RISK and Rone. Funds from the sale of prints of the murals, will be devoted directly to the restoration of the stadium.It was also announced an exclusive Instagram contest, sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation organization, in which only 30 participants were accepted, who were selected based on their enthusiasm to take photos of everything that makes Miami special. The winners had the opportunity to meet Gloria Estefan, chat with the nine artists of the mural project ART History Mural Project, and explore the stadium with the architect Hilario Candela.
