For the first time in the history of Interbrand’s Best Global Green Brands, there is a brand new # 1: Ford. Toyota, which had held the first place since 2011, gets down to number two followed by Honda, Nissan and Panasonic, completing the top five.The report measures the gap between sustainable and environmental performance of a brand and the consumer perception on that performance.The brands appearing in this ranking have a global presence and a proven record. Interbrand conducted extensive consumer research to have the public’s perception of brands sustainable or green practices and compares it with environmental performance or sustainability data collected and analyzed by Deloitte.”This year’s report emphasizes the power of participation and collective action,” Jez Frampton, Interbrands global CEO, said. “The study suggests that everyone involved will have to be committed and willing to work together to take Corporate Citizenship and sustainability initiatives,” he added.Another important data in this report is that the protagonists of this year are Chevrolet, Disney and Heineken, which were part of the 50 most valuable for the first time in their history; while Sony and Adidas entered the Top 10. Also, it emphasized that technology, car and electronic brands occupy almost 50% of the total brands of the ranking; 10 are automotive and 12 from the electronic and technology sectors.
