According to a new study conducted by March of Dimes, called Health: what Latino mothers must know about having a healthy baby, Hispanic women run a considerable higher risk of having a baby with a neural tube birth defect and almost a quarter of all the premature births are from Hispanic mothers, in the States. Thalia, March of Dimes’ global ambassador, is the speaker in charge of spreading the message of health information and important resources Hispanic women have at hand during pregnancy.”I supported this mission, even before becoming a mother, because I appreciate the work done by March of Dimes to improve babies’ health. We hope that all the women know that there are things we can do to protect ourselves and our babies, like taking multivitamins with folic acid before and during pregnancy. There is nothing more important than our babies’ health,” the Mexican Singer said. Thalia joined Dr. Diana Ramos, March of Dimes’ co-president of the Hispanic Consultant Council, to talk during an informative lunch, about the health risks Hispanic women face and the steps they can take to give their babies a healthy start in life. “The first steps for having a healthy baby are planning, prenatal care and the preservation of healthy behaviors,” Dr. Ramos commented.
