Rpdríguez: La técnica representa el 10%, el resto corresponde a la creatividad
Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, El Rey Networks president and founder, was one of the invited personalities to participate as speaker during the AHAA 2014 conference, together with FIAP and Círculo Creativo (Creative Circle).Rodriguez talked about his beginnings as a Latino director with the audience. His passion started when he was a teenager, making short videos with his friends and family members, with content full of action that then became his personal style. His breakout film El Mariachi was offered to Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, unknown in the US back then. The movie had a budget of US$7,000 that was paid with his savings without knowing it would become a blockbuster. “I had to create a Latino star system, where I introduced Latino artists to the studios and showed they could also act in English,” Rodriguez said. His support allowed people like Salma Hayek to start in the market, or Danny Trejo, the Machetes protagonist. “I wanted to foster diversity in front and behind the cameras,” he added.Rodriguez confessed he loves advertising and thinks it is necessary to impulse creativity in all the people involved in his studio. Technique represents 10%, the rest corresponds to creativity, he ended.
