T-Mobile recently revealed its latest Un-carrier move: a campaign to eliminate overage penalties. In eliminating charges for exceeding calling limits for all clients with T-Mobile plans, its executive director and president, John Legere, also hurled a challenge at the biggest telephone companies in the country – AT&T, Verizon and Sprint to follow his example.More than 20 million Americans were affected by punishing overage charges in 2013. Such penalties applied by the three biggest telephone companies in the country represent costs of some $1 billion a year for the total number of consumers.Today Im laying down a challenge to AT&T, Verizon and Sprint to join T-Mobile in ending these outrageous overage penalties for all consumers because its the right thing to do, said Legere. Overage fees are flat out wrong. Agree with me? Join me in putting this challenge to all the major national carriers by signing my petition on Change.org. Right here. Take one minute to be a part of this consumer movement.T-Mobile previously decided to eliminate annual service contracts and began to end overage charges through the launch of the Simple Choice plan.Starting in May for bills arriving in June regardless of whether youre on Simple Choice, Simple Starter or an older plan, were abolishing overages for good. Period, he said.
