Shazam, the mobile engagement app, reported that the Super Bowl broadcast was its most successful activity yet, with 700,000 Shazams that evolved into millions of interactions“Last night, we saw record levels of engagement with the Super Bowl with more than 700,000 Shazams of the game, with more than half of those happening during Bruno Mars’ halftime show. Our timeline experience offered users the ability to replay the ads, catch all the new music as it was unveiled, and get exclusive content” said Shazam CEO Rich Riley. The company launched a new tool for the Super Bowl that allowed viewers to keep up with all the key plays, ads, entertainment and tweets during the big game.While there were a series of spikes in Shazam activity during the Super Bowl, Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers singing Give It Away during the halftime show got the biggest bounce. The five most Shazamed moments in order were Bruno and the Peppers with Give It Away and then with Just the Way You Are, Chevrolet’s Life, Jaguar’s Rendezvous, and Bruno Mars (again) with Runaway Baby.Shazam recently launched its new function Auto Shazam for automatic identification of the music and TV playing around users. Which makes it perfect for situations like the Super Bowl where fans don’t have to click on the symbol to activate the program – it operates in the background so fans won’t lose a second of the action.
