Chrysler and Fiat will now be known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. following their merger into a single company.Fiats Board of Directors recently agreed to the new name and said the new company headquarters will be established in Britain for tax purposes.Shares of the new merger will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange and on the Milan exchange by next October under the title of FCA, which also appears on the logo of the new company. FCA includes the automotive brands Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler, along with Fiat, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari-Lancia.The new company will have strong research, engineering and financial operations at both Fiat headquarters in Turin, Italy, and at Chryslers enormous manufacturing complex at Auburn Hills, Michigan. That will avoid political controversies in Italy, where Fiat is the largest private employer, and in the United States, where the government bailed out Chrysler after it filed for bankruptcy in 2009.Sergio Marchionne, CEO of the combined companies, said of their new logo that it was designed to provide the linkage between the two houses, as opposed to the retention of one organization over the other adding that now “I think we can move on execution at the speed of light. The merger of the two companies raises confidence that FCA can reach its goal of selling 1 million Jeeps worldwide this year, after selling 732,000 in 2013.
