John Legere, director ejecutivo de T-Mobile
A year ago at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, T-Mobile tossed a challenge at its competitors, promising to provide a better service for clients tired of fighting with a broken, arrogant mobile-phone industry. Since then, the company has kept its promise with an endless flow of innovaciones. In its latest move, T-Mobile eliminated the last obstacles for individuals and families who want to change their mobile-phone carrier, so that now they can move from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon by means of the Uncarrier, a strategy by which T-Mobile pays the penalty that customers incur for early termination of their contracts.”We’re giving families a Get Out of Jail Free Card” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. Carriers have counted on staggered contract end dates and hefty early termination fees to keep people bound to them forever. But now families can switch to T-Mobile without paying a single red cent to leave them behind”.Clients have been attracted to T-Mobile because of its no annual service contract Simple Choice Plan. But a Nielsen study indicated that some 40 percent of families did not decide to make the change due to their current carriers punishing penalties for early termination. So heres the Uncarrier strategy that T-Mobile came up with: Clients of the countrys three main telephone companies who hand over their smartphones at any participating T-Mobile store, and who change to the Simple Choice Plan, can receive an immediate credit based on the value of their device of up to $300. Then clients buy their favorite device from T-Mobile, including the companys most popular smartphones, now priced at $0 down plus 24 monthly device payments, for well-qualified customers. And the penalties they incur with their previous carrier for early contract termination are paid by T-Mobile.
