Antonio Ruiz of The Vidal Partnership: The dream of Oscar as an insurance company is to offer consumers a simple, easy solution

Antonio Ruiz, partner and communications planner for The Vidal Partnership, spoke with PRODU about his agency landing the Oscar account, a new health insurance provider for the state of New York.“The dream of Oscar as an insurance company is to offer consumers a simple, easy way to get a policy, which is a far cry from the usual complications in this field” Ruiz said. “In New York around 1.6 million inhabitants have no insurance, and of that number, 40 percent are Hispanic. That’s why the folks at Oscar were clear that the message and its promise had to be something the potential customer would relate to – which is why they called on us”.The Vidal Partnership worked with Oscar Insurance on Hispanic projects even before its formal launch on Oct. 1. “We’re working on several platforms to spread awareness of the brand, we’re making efforts in public relations and establishing a presence on general-market media and Hispanic media, as well as on digital and mobile platforms, radio and out-of-home formats”.“We invite consumers to look for us online or on mobile to learn more about the company’s offer, so we can begin to win the policy-holders that the brand deserves. We believe Oscar offers a unique experience and coverage at very affordable prices” he said.When they created the company, the founders wanted it to have the characteristics of being as warm and human as the grandpa of one of them – whose name was Oscar – and started calling the new insurance company by that name. The idea was always to change the name in the future, but it sounded so family-friendly that they never changed it.
