The annual ANA Multicultural and Diversity Marketing conference will be held this year for the first time in the city of Los Angeles on Nov. 3-5, at the JW Marriott hotel.This years program will include sessions with such brands as American Express, American Heart Association, Amway, Diageo, IMAN Cosmetics, McDonalds, PepsiCo, Target, Walmart and Wells Fargo. Della Ng, VP of marketing at Wells Fargos Asian division, will speak about the importance of culture for connecting the bank with the Asian community.For her part, Desiree Reid, general director and senior VP of brand development at IMAN Cosmetics, will make an in-depth presentation of multiculturalism as part of the companys DNA, since its products are designed for African-Americans, Asians, Latinas and other multicultural women with a wide spectrum of skin tones.Meanwhile Marlena Peleo-Lazar, general creative director at McDonalds, will comment on campaigns targeting the Hispanic, African-American and Asian segments, which though an important step, the principle of her organization is to evolve from a multicultural marketing strategy to one that is more comprehensive, with a certain universality.The event is expected to draw an audience of more than 600. The conference includes the 13th annual Multicultural Excellence Awards, which honors marketers and agencies for their work in the creation of outstanding multicultural advertising and marketing campaigns.
