The Ford assembly line at Flat Rock, Michigan, went into production of the new Fusion, creating 1,400 new jobs with an investment of $555 million and sales of the sedan in the U.S. have shot up by 13 percent so far this year.The new plant is estimated to boost the number of Fusions available to some 350,000 units a year. Ford president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, said that with its bold design and great fuel economy, Fusion has exceeded all of our expectations, with demand outstripping supply and added that Fusion in Flat Rock is a win for all of our stakeholders including customers, employees and dealers. At the same time, Ford is continuing its massive investment in America by creating another 1,400 jobs.Up to July this year, Ford sold 181,000 Fusions, 21,000 more than last year. The midsize sedan is on sale in such strategic markets as San Francisco, Los Angeles and Miami. The new auto is the latest Ford model after the Fiesta 2011 and the Focus 2012, which were created to meet the needs of the urban client with their outstanding fuel efficiency and fast-forward technologies.The Fusion Hybrids fuel economy is EPA-certified at 47 miles per gallon in the city, 47 mpg on the highway, and 47 mpg for the combination of the two. It offers motorists a choice of powertrains including EcoBoost® gasoline-powered, hybrid or plug-in hybrid, plus a choice of automatic and manual transmission, along with Auto Start-Stop technology.
